On Mad Men, Season 5
Spoilers, probably. Also a Homeland spoiler.
Not a great ending to an otherwise brilliant season, in my opinion. The show branched out and dipped into many of the character’s personal lives outside of the office, with stories that had little to do with each other. While this works when you can focus on one or two per week, wrapping them up at once in a 45 minute finale made them all feel rushed and not quite satisfying enough. The montage at the end was great to that effect, as a coda, but the rest of the episode felt a bit forced to get to that point.
Furthermore, I can’t believe that my two favorite shows of the last year both ended with a shock therapy induced amnesia plot. This is not a Playstation 2 game, it’s sophisticated television! We can do better.
