I recently saw David do stand-up a little while back and couldn’t have had a better time. So it was a little disappointing to be a little disappointed in his first book. Not to say there weren’t funny moments, but all the pieces kind of bled together for me. No one essay really stood out.
Maybe his material just lends itself better to stand-up. Nothing wrong with that, but I’m not sure I would read another of his books unless he came over to my apartment and read it to me.

I got this as an audio book and seemed to enjoy it much more than most of the people who’ve read it. This despite his constant adlibs ribbing the listener about being too lazy to read. So I think you’re on to something.
Also, Les Savy Fav perform a chapter, which was unsurprisingly awesome.
